Alessandro Nesta assures “I’ve been studying Perugia since Christmas” after being appointed as Coach.
The former centre-back will lead the Umbrian side through the Serie B play-offs, facing Empoli in his first game on Friday night.
“The President and I talked a few months ago and he proposed that I come to Perugia, but I was busy with another team,” Nesta explained in his presentation today.
“I saw the training camps, the stadium, and an environment that I liked. That's why I immediately said yes this time.

“I saw the training camps, the stadium, and an environment that I liked. That's why I immediately said yes this time.
“I thank [former Coach Roberto] Breda, even if I do not know him, because he gave me the opportunity to play the play-offs. I’ll buy him a coffee if I see him.
“Now we have to win against Empoli to create enthusiasm, to fire everyone up and face the play-offs with a different mentality.
“I’ve just arrived, so for me it all starts from zero. I hope the fans understand that and adjust everything accordingly.
“If the fans have a problem then they can come and see me and we can work it out – with words, of course, because physically I’m not up to it anymore!
“As for the players, I’ve known Alessandro Diamanti for a long time, I’ve played against him and he’s a pest on the pitch.
“I’ve been studying Perugia since Christmas though, so I already know everything. There are leaders in this team, but I’m not going to name any names.
“What I can say is that I found real men, responsible lads who will do everything to ensure it all goes smoothly in the dressing room.”
