Referee Marco Piccinini infuriated Monza and their coach, Nesta, as he disallowed a Milan Djuric goal in a 2-0 loss against Atalanta.

It happened in the second half, with La Dea up one goal.

The visitors’ striker won an aerial duel with Ederson finding the net at the far post, but the referee saw a foul.

“We had scored the equaliser. They [referees] have something to explain,” Nesta told DAZN.

“I don’t understand why he blew the whistle. Maybe it’s me; I don’t know.

“They have to explain to us. Retegui and Pablo Marì hit each other for the whole game, and then he saw something like this. Is this a foul? I can’t understand,” continued the former defender.

“They blow the whistle too often, but they must see something. Nothing happened here. It’s a shame.

“Maybe it’s offside, but the referee said it was a foul. Is this a foul? What kind of foul is this?”

Monza have eight points in 10 games, as many as Lecce and Venezia in the relegation zone.
