Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved believes the team has above all improved ‘fitness levels’ recently and welcomes Koni De Winter’s debut against Malmo in the Champions League.

It kicks off at 17.45 GMT at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin.

Champions League Liveblog: Juventus-Malmo, Atalanta-Villarreal

“We must give a sense of consistency to our recent performances, which have been improving, more than just looking at the result,” Nedved told Juventus TV.

“I don’t think we changed the way we approach the game, it’s more that the lads have improved their fitness levels and they feel more confident, especially as positive results bring self-belief and a sense of calm.”

The Old Lady have already qualified for the Champions League Round of 16, but can still take first place in the group if they win tonight and Chelsea fail to beat Zenit.

There is the first start for 19-year-old defender Koni De Winter in a 3-5-2 formation this evening.

“He is a very self-possessed lad, he seems relaxed and I am curious to see his performance, because I believe he can become really very strong.

“It’s going to be exciting for him, I think the experience will be good for the player.”

5 thought on “Nedved: ‘Juventus improved physically’”
  1. Nedved is clueless Vice President, He doesn’t even know which direction are the club heading to, Just talking nonsense ..

  2. Nedved and Allegri-keep doing the pep talks, retreats, etc. That stuff works as players become motivated to succeed. Look at Conte as an example.

And let this be a learning curve for Mancini as I feel the players took advantage of him in the last episode.

  3. The tactical switch has worked wonders for Juve ! If you consider that we have had injuries and were in a group with the Defending Champions League winners and came first that right there is a masterstroke by Allegri ! now we see who we face in the round of 16 and try to recover some ground in Serie A and fix some problems with the January mercato. I’;m so glad Juve avoid Bayern/Liverpool/Man City….can the other Italian teams say the same ?????
