Roberto Mancini should stick to a 4-3-3 system against England tonight with Jorginho, Gigio Donnarumma and Ciro Immobile starting.

It kicks off at 19.45 UK time at the Stadio Meazza in Milan. It’s the fifth match of the Nations League Group C that sees the Azzurri in third place with five points and the Three Lions sitting rock bottom with only two.

There were reports Mancini would switch to a 3-5-2 system against the Three Lions, but the CT is expected to keep the usual 4-3-3 system with Gigio Donnarumma in goal, Jorginho in the middle of the park and Ciro Immobile up front.

Either Bryan Cristante or Tommaso Pobega will start in midfield along with Jorginho and Nicolò Barella, while Sandro Tonali has been ruled out of the game due to an injury, same as Marco Verratti.

Lazio winger Matteo Cancellieri could make his debut as a starter in attack, although Manolo Gabbiadini also has a fair chance to make it into the Azzurri’s attacking trident.

The Sampdoria star replaced the injured Matteo Politano and hasn’t featured for the Azzurri since the World Cup playoff between Italy and Sweden at San Siro in November 2017.

UPDATE: Ciro Immobile has not been called up for the match with England due to a muscle problem. He will likely be replaced by Gianluca Scamacca, with Mancini picking a 3-5-2 system.

  1. Why is Gabbiadini in the Italy squad? A sub at an awful Sampdoria team?

This NL is pretty irrelevant, despite UEFA trying to make it out to be something important, but hopefully England get relegated to keep their fans quiet for 2 minutes.
