Former Manchester City star Samir Nasri opens up about a dispute with Roberto Mancini: ‘He used to disrespect and speak badly to players, I insulted him by all names…’

Nasri spent five seasons at the Etihad Stadium, two under the current Italy coach.

The former French midfielder scored 11 goals and delivered 18 assists in 82 appearances across all competitions with Mancini in the dug-out, winning the first league title for the Citizens in 44 years.

However, the relationship between Nasri and the coach wasn’t always idyllic, as the  34-year-old revealed in an interview with Canal +.

Nasri recalled an argument with Mancini during an away Premier League game at Wolves.

“In the first half, he kept talking to me. I told him to stop. If you’re not happy, you take me out,” he said as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“I get ready to go out at half-time. In the dressing room, I take off my shoes and tell Yaya Toure, who is sitting next to me, that if he speaks badly to me, I’ll throw my boots at him because the coach used to disrespect and speak badly to players.

“I insulted him by all names. Even his children who sometimes came to play in the reserves or who trained with us.

“I left for Paris the next day. Two days later, I was on the bench against Manchester United. The president came from Abu-Dhabi to see us and told Mancini that if I was fit, we would win.

“I returned to the team, and we made up in a private plane that he paid for with me because I had to return from Paris.”

Manchester City sacked Mancini in 2013 after losing the FA Cup Final against Wigan.

A few days ago, he recalled his title-winning campaign in the blue half of Manchester by posting Sergio Aguero’s decisive goal against QPR on social media. The Argentinean striker had just announced his retirement from football due to a heart condition.

“I wish you moments like this also off the pitch,” Mancini wrote.

Nasri left Manchester City in 2016 and continued his career at Sevilla, Antalyaspor, West Ham and Anderlecht before announcing his retirement in September.

  1. Always hearing about every former player and staff hating mancini

Common theme that is always being repeated……I wonder why?

  2. Nasri, what a pile of dung. If you were even half the player Mancini was them maybe you could talk. Let’s talk about the disrespect you showed Arsenal to force a move and how you constantly turned up overweight…

  3. You English and French are very jealous of Italy and Italians, that’s why we hear this constant moaning.

  4. Gio – exactly what a clown totally lost me when I read that. He probably doesn’t realize how stupid he sounds that’s why he said it. Perhaps we have our reason why Mancio disrespected him? I would’ve done a little more. Idiot.
