Napoli’s plan to sign Emerson

Italy and Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri is on Napoli‘s radars and according to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Partenopei are planning to sign him on loan.

The 26-year-old’s contract in South London expires in June 2022, so if Napoli are to sign him on a temporary deal, Emerson must first extend his contract with the Blues.

The former Roma defender has emerged as a transfer target for both Napoli and Inter, but the Nerazzurri seem to prefer Marcos Alonso over the Italy international who has played one game at Euro 2020 with the Azzurri.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, new Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti is eager to reunite with Emerson at the Stadio Maradona.

Napoli and Chelsea’s representatives are reportedly on good terms and the Serie A side hope to sign the defender on loan as they did with Tiemoue Bakayoko one year ago.

The Partenopei need a new left-back as Faouzi Ghoulam is dealing with a knee injury, while the versatile Elseid Hysaj is set to join Lazio as a free agent.

According to the report, Napoli are in no rush to finalize the deal and could wait until the last days of the summer transfer window.
