Napoli defender Kostas Manolas has been fined by the Guardia di Finanza following a customs check at Naples International Airport.
The 30-year-old Greek defender was stopped and fined by the Guardia di Finanza after customs check at the Capodichino airport in Naples found that he was carrying a sum of money over the €20,0000 limit imposed by anti-money laundering regulations.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Manolas was on his way back to Greece, possibly for medical reasons. The former Roma man was available for last weekend’s match against Empoli, however, so the exact nature of his trip is still unclear.
Manolas has already had a difficult season this campaign with Napoli, missing at least ten games due to various physical problems, such as an ankle injury, a gluteal muscle injury and the flu.
The Greek centre back has only made four Serie A appearances this season under coach Luciano Spalletti and this latest setback will not fill the coach with confidence.
