Benfica have reportedly rejected Napoli’s opening gambit of €25m plus Mario Rui for left-back Alex Grimaldo.

According to Record, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis made the proposal to Benfica counterpart Luis Filipe Vieira during a meeting in Rome.

The exchange would make sense, given Mario Rui wants to leave the San Paolo and constitutes a direct replacement for Grimaldo.

However, the newspaper warns Vieira considered the offer insufficient as he values the 23-year-old in the region of €40m.
