Napoli apparently need a year-long agreement in place to use the San Paolo by July 10, or they will play the Champions League Play-off round in Palermo.

The Vesuviani have provisionally listed the Renzo Barbera as their nominated home ground for both League and Champions League football next season.

This was widely seen as precautionary act as their agreement in place with Naples’ city council to use the Stadio San Paolo expired last month and is up for renegotiation.

This was widely seen as precautionary act as their agreement in place with Naples’ city council to use the Stadio San Paolo expired last month and is up for renegotiation.

Whilst the two parties continue to be split on finer details to a new deal to maintain the club’s use of the stadium, whilst also being permitted to run renovation work on it, an apparent 60-day temporary deal was put in place.

However, the Corriere dello Sport report that this is not enough to appease UEFA and that they need to present to the European game’s body an agreement for the next season in its entirety, by July 10.

It is understood that if they do not meet this deadline, then the home leg of their Play-off round clash on August 19, 20, 26 or 27 – likely to be one of the latter dates if seeded – will have to be played in Palermo.
