Napoli stars Matteo Politano and Mario Rui both left the stadium on crutches after sustaining injuries during the Champions League quarter-final with Milan.
The game ended 1-1 on the night, with Victor Osimhen’s stoppage-time header cancelling out an Olivier Giroud tap-in from Rafael Leao’s run, sending the Rossoneri through 2-1 on aggregate.
Both sides had penalties parried by the goalkeepers, as Giroud and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia were denied by Alex Meret and Mike Maignan.
The Partenopei lost both Politano and Mario Rui to injury at the same moment during the first half.
In worrying scenes for their fans, both players were spotted leaving the stadium after the final whistle on crutches.
Politano was the most serious, as he seemed to badly sprain his left ankle and knee when falling awkwardly and was visibly in a great deal of pain.
Sport Mediaset report Politano hinted towards the journalists in the mixed zone that it was a fairly serious injury.
Mario Rui had his right knee strapped up as he went past on crutches and joked with reporters that he would ‘go running tomorrow.’
It is a concern, especially with Giovanni Simeone already out of action and a huge Serie A clash with Juventus coming up this weekend.
