Mundo Deportivo have claimed that the Liga giants are tracking the 26-year-old, with his contract in the French capital expiring next summer.
The Blues international is seen as an alternative for the ageing Xavi, and the Blaugrana are keen to capture on a Bosman next June.
The same paper however, believes that Rafa Benitez’s men are also keen on the PSG star, and will look to gazump Barca by making a bid in January for Matuidi.
With PSG facing the possibility of losing their midfielder for free, a bid of around €7m could be enough to see the former Saint Etienne man move to Stadio San Paolo.
