Milan and Bologna remain interested, but there are reports Napoli are ready to snap up Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the Champions League.

The striker is a free agent after his contract with the LA Galaxy ran down and has dropped numerous hints he is returning to Italy.

He already played in Serie A for Juventus, Inter and Milan, with the Rossoneri believed to be the favourites for his signature.

Bologna are also making a proposal and he’d be working with good friend Sinisa Mihajlovic.

However, La Repubblica newspaper claims Ibrahimovic is stalling for time because Napoli promised they’d sign him to a lucrative contract if they qualify for the Champions League Round of 16.

The Partenopei need only a point against KRC Genk next week to secure their spot in the knock-out rounds of the tournament.

Il Mattino newspaper also reports that President Aurelio De Laurentiis is prepared to break with his usual salary cap and spend the €8m per year for Ibrahimovic’s salary.

The Swede has said many times he would relish a move to Napoli and the Stadio San Paolo.

There is also the possibility he’ll be working with former Milan teammate Gennaro Gattuso, as current coach Carlo Ancelotti is hanging by a thread following an eight-match winless streak in all competition.
