Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri says his side want to become ‘the best in Europe statistically’ against Legia tomorrow.
A win for the Partenopei would give them a 100 per cent winning record in Europa League Group D, something no other team in European club competition can achieve.
Sarri spoke of his determination to reach this goal, but pointed to some issues with squad rotation.
“I’m thinking about the match tomorrow night, then afterwards we’ll think about the next game by considering tiredness and various knocks,” he said during today’s Press conference.
“This is our framework, then if there are one or two elements to change we will think about it, although it’s hard to think of rotation up front without Mertens and Gabbiadini.
“We’re thinking about tomorrow: it’s a match that can make us the best statistically in Europe.
“The playing time is relative, for you who write that the same players always play, you don’t take into account the Coppa and European games. Several, for example Jorginho, have relaxed playing time without the cups.
“The calendar is like this, but I don’t reach conclusions just with numbers, because if we look at the numbers then you can think you’ve dominated when instead you’ve lost.
“Chances for the youngsters? Today we’ll see, Chalobah played in the last match so he could play again tomorrow. We haven’t decided anything yet. The more difficult situation is in attack, because the absence of Gabbiadini is weighing on us.”
