Napoli want Chelsea pledge for Sarri

Maurizio Sarri will be allowed to join Chelsea if they sign a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ not to activate Napoli release clauses, claim Sportitalia.

Transfer guru Alfredo Pedullà has been saying for some time that Sarri will be the new Chelsea Coach, even when negotiations seemed to have broken down definitively.

He insists the breakthrough will come not by paying €8m or even €4.5m, as the release clause in his contract has now expired.

He insists the breakthrough will come not by paying €8m or even €4.5m, as the release clause in his contract has now expired.

What President Aurelio De Laurentiis wants is to ensure his old tactician doesn’t dismantle the current Napoli squad under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

He’ll therefore release Sarri for a minimal fee if Chelsea also sign a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ promising not to poach players from Napoli without their consent.

That means avoiding the stars who have release clauses in their contracts – Elseid Hysaj, Raul Albiol and Piotr Zielinski.

They should also halt their interest in Kalidou Koulibaly, who doesn’t have a release clause.

Albania international full-back Hysaj has a release clause worth €50m, Poland midfielder Zielinski’s is €65m and Spanish centre-back Albiol is available for just €6m.
