Napoli wait for Osimhen verdict ahead of Juventus

Napoli are waiting for the verdict of their appeal against the two-match suspension for Victor Osimhen, hoping to have the Nigerian striker available against Juventus.

SportItalia reports the Federal Court of Appeal will discuss the appeal filed by Napoli against Osimhen’s two-match.

Osimhen sent off for punching Venezia player

The Azzurri striker was shown a straight red card for a supposed punch on Venezia defender Daan Heymans in the opening game.

After 23 minutes, Osimhen was irritated with the close man-marking from Heymans and Napoli’s lawyers are trying to convince the Court of Appeal that the former LOSC Lille didn’t intend to hurt the Venezia man and only wanted to free himself from the marking.

The Partenopei are pushing for a lighter sentence for the striker and are hoping to have Osimhen available for the match against Juventus on Saturday.

Luciano Spalletti’s men have started with two wins against Venezia and Genoa and return after the international break with their toughest test so far against Juventus, before travelling to Leicester City for the opening game in the Europa League.
