Alessandro Giuliano, the police chief of Naples, asks fans to ‘arrive early’ for the game between Napoli vs. Juventus. ‘We have decided to open the gates four hours early’.

The tickets for Napoli vs. Juventus were first suspended as the game was labelled ‘at risk’ but fans are ready to attend the showdown between the two rivals this weekend.

However, the Naples police are asking fans to ‘avoid crowding’ and hopes to spread the arrivals at the Stadio Diego Maradona.

The police chief of Naples Giuliano has asked fans to ‘arrive early’ and has requested ‘a large number of stewards’ for the big game against the Bianconeri.

“Given that a football match is a complex event and safety issues must be addressed under various aspects,” Giuliano told Radio Punto Nuovo. “We decided, on the occasion of Napoli vs. Juventus to open the gates early, at 14.00 [local time], four hours earlier.

“We have asked SSC Napoli for a number of stewards to adequate to the flow that will be there. We asked for a large number of stewards, then it remains to be seen if they will be available.

“We know that there’s difficulty in finding these operators. We have indicated the necessary stewards. They have tasks that they didn’t have before, and this makes the access path more cumbersome and I’m also referring to the Green Pass.

“The arrival at the stadium is another point and I ask fans not to concentrate all at the last hour, but to anticipate as soon as possible.

“On the occasion of Napoli vs. Benevento, the flow was in the last hour despite the fact that we opened three hours before kick-off.

“The need for steward emerges. In our opinion, we cite the need for operators in reference to the sporting event and the turnout of the public.

“It would be better if the club did not derogate. We have a continuous collaboration with Napoli. All security actors participate in this collaboration.

“We don’t seek the responsibility that determines the possible absence of stewards. However, if the latter are fewer than we deem necessary, it will fatally slow down the control activities.

“The Naples Police Headquarters has been operating very well since before I started managing it. Public management is also tested with double the number of people present today, before COVID.

“We are proposing the opening of the gates and we are asking fans to arrive hours before to avoid crowding.”
