A diplomatic incident is on the horizon after Uruguay called Napoli's injured striker Edinson Cavani for international duty.

The hitman is out of tonight's Serie A showdown with Inter because he sprained his ankle in the 2-0 Champions League win over Villarreal on Tuesday.

He is expected to be fit again early next week, so Uruguay have called him for their games against Bolivia on October 7 and Paraguay on October 11.

Napoli are furious, as they feel Cavani is not fit and should rest rather than further aggravate the injury.

They have already had problems with Uruguay during the Copa America, when Cavani played in the Final despite his injury.
