Napoli’s failure to make any big-name signings this summer and De Laurentiis’ penchant for a controversial remark prompted both Curvas A and B to release a statement, criticising their club’s owner.
“This statement will try to clarify our positions on Aurelio De Laurentiis, whom we’ll never call President,” it began.
“We don’t tolerate his vision of football, which is pro-business and without sentiment. We’re ultras… the past, present and future, we’ve lived and we’ll live them all with sacrifice, passion and values that are present everywhere, but also beside an idiot.
“We no longer accept this stringent lack of style and these provocative offences against a group of people who, despite him taking us from the abyss, made him go from being a modest film producer to a great and ‘wealthy’ owner of a football club.
“We smile when he says things like ‘if you want to win, support Juventus’ or ‘you deserve the Chinese’. This shows his stupidity.
“On the other hand, we don’t smile when our very being is called a ‘profession’.”
