However Schroder denies that the Italians have made an approach.

“We have no direct contact with Napoli. We have noticed the interest of various clubs,” Schroder told Tuttomercatoweb.com

“I stress again: Mateta has a long-term contract and he is not on the market. It seems clear to me that he will remain.”

TMW also claims that Napoli have now turned their attention to Inter’s Andrea Pinamonti.

Pinamonti has been on loan at Genoa for the first half of the season, but is looking to leave the Rossoblu after falling out of favour in recent weeks.

It’s thought that Napoli are ready to offer €18m to sign the 20-year-old outright from the Nerazzurri.
