Napoli will reportedly take up their €3.5m option to buy Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina in January.

Napoli signed Ospina on loan for €1m towards the end of the summer transfer window, with an option to keep the 30-year-old outright for €3.5m.

That will become mandatory if he plays in 30 competitive games for the Partenopei this season, but Gazzetta dello Sport claims they will pay the €3.5m next month.

The newspaper adds Alex Meret’s physical problems would have prompted the southerners to bring their deal forward for the Colombian.

Ospina has started 15 matches for Napoli since arriving from Arsenal, conceding 17 goals and keeping four clean sheets.
