Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret will reportedly be guaranteed a starting position under Luciano Spalletti and offered a new deal until June 2025.

Meret is currently away with the Azzurri squad at Euro 2020, but his future at Napoli seems more and more certain.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the shot stopper has been given guarantees about his role at the Stadio Diego Maradona and will pen a new contract ahead of the upcoming season.

The young shot stopper was sharing the role with David Ospina in 2020-21 and the certainty of not having to contend for the place next season has given him the peace of mind to accept renewing his deal with the Partenopei.

Meret’s current deal expires in June 2023 and the report believes he will get offered a new deal until 2025.

Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and goalkeeper manager Andrea Pastorello will meet with Meret ahead of the new season.
