The Partenopei’s pursuit of the Inter captain has been one of the underlying transfer window sagas of the summer, with the Nerazzurri so far holding firm.

Azzurri President Aurelio De Laurentiis has had multiple offers for the Argentine forward, believed to be between €50-60m, turned down.

However, Corriere della Sera and Gazzetta dello Sport say that the film producer plans to redouble his attempts to sign the 23-year-old by increasing his bid yet again.

According to the reports, Icardi, who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, already has personal terms agreed with the Campania club.

Should Inter eventually accept an offer from De Laurentiis, the player would reportedly sign a five-year contract and earn €6.5m per year in addition to bonuses.

Icardi came on as a substitute in the San Siro club’s 4-1 defeat to Bayern Munich last night, scoring a late consolation.
