Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed that Luciano Spalletti will leave in the coming weeks and now the club are prepared to go all in for Luis Enrique, reports detail.

The Partenopei head told Che Tempo Che Fa on Rai 3 last night that the Italian coach ‘is a free man’ and asked for a ‘sabbatical year’, allowing him to resign from his role as head coach with one year left on his contract. The terms of his exit mean he isn’t allowed to join another club before next July.

Following on from their third ever Scudetto success, Napoli now need to find a suitable head coach to replace Spalletti, hoping to continue the project and confirm the growth in the Campania capital.

As detailed by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Napoli are now focused on appointing Luis Enrique as their new head coach, preparing a two-year contract worth €10m net per season for the Spaniard, taking advantage of the Growth Decree.

De Laurentiis is willing to guarantee the futures of both Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen as well, hoping the presence of the two stars will further convince Luis Enrique of the move. The hope is to define an agreement at some point this week.

Should Napoli fail to secure Luis Enrique, they’d focus on their other targets instead, like Bologna’s Thiago Motta and Fiorentina’s Vincenzo Italiano.
