Napoli are still waiting for Chelsea to accept their €30m offer for Romelu Lukaku, separate from Victor Osimhen, and getting David Neres from Benfica also depends on the timing of that deal.

The Partenopei have seen their transfer strategy limited this summer by the need to first sell Osimhen, but nobody has yet come close to the €130m release clause in his contract.

Coach Antonio Conte voiced his frustration and the club started to really push to speed up the process and bring in new signings even without the Osimhen sale first.

David Neres depends on Lukaku

According to Sky Sport Italia, if Chelsea do not accept the €30m offer for Lukaku over the next few hours, then Napoli are prepared to spend that money instead on David Neres.

That deal is done for €28-30m including various add-ons, with the player accepting a move with personal terms worth €3m per season.

Portuguese paper Record claim that agent Giuliano Bertolucci is already in Italy to go over the details of the transfer.

However, if Chelsea do accept the Lukaku bid, then Neres will have to wait until Osimhen’s sale to complete his switch to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Benfica already left Neres out of their squad for the match with Famalicao.
