Napoli want to add an exciting new forward to Luciano Spalletti’s squad and have moved away from Lazar Samardzic to focus on Thiago Almada, reports suggest.

Partenopei sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is already hard at work looking for players who could be a good fit for Spalletti’s team in the summer, lining up a number of possible ideas.

Spalletti is a fan of Udinese talent Samardzic and exploratory talks have been held between the two clubs in recent weeks. Napoli were informed that the Serbian prospect would cost around €27-30m, a price considered too high by Giuntoli.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Napoli have decided to switch focus to Atlanta’s Almada, a growing talent who was part of Lionel Scaloni’s World Cup winning Argentina squad.

Napoli have opened talks with the MLS outfit to explore a possible deal and have been informed of the 21-year-old’s €20m price tag. The Serie A league leaders want to move quickly to beat out competition from interested French and Spanish clubs.
