Il Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport claim Jorge Mendes is pushing for Cristiano Ronaldo’s loan move to Napoli, but Victor Osimhen is expected to stay at the Stadio Maradona.

The Portuguese superstar is looking for an escape route from Old Trafford as he wants to play Champions League football this season.

Man United are interested in Osimhen, so Mendes tried to send the Nigeria international to Old Trafford for more than €100m, with Ronaldo to Napoli on loan, with his salary paid by the Premier League side.

However, Antony’s €100m move to Old Trafford means the Red Devils won’t invest more than €100m in Osimhen, who will remain at Napoli beyond the summer.

According to Gazzetta, this means Ronaldo won’t join the Partenopei, but Tuttosport and Corsport claim the ex-Juventus forward could still join the Azzurri on loan.

Mendes is still in talks with Napoli and Aurelio De Laurentiis would still bring the superstar to Naples, only if the Red Devils pay his salary.

Anything could happen in the last three days of the summer transfer window although Edu Aguirre, a Spanish journalist and one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s closest friends, said on Monday that CR7 has decided against joining the Partenopei.

  1. Disaster for napoli that no one gave them 100 millions for osimhen and to use ronaldo for free… Now they will have no ronaldo and will lose osimhen like fabian ruiz after season for 20 millions, so unlucky team :-/

  2. So after season will get 20 millions, for fabio ruiz also one year ago someone offered 80-100millions, so unlucky napoli, missed opportunity to use greatest footballer of all time for a season, win serie a, champions league… and lost so much money…

  3. @Forza, can you share the name of the mind altering material you are using to frame your irrational commentary. A big THANK YOU to CR7, the world’s 15th greatest footballer of all time for turning down Napoli, we owe you so much.

  4. I agree, he is not Maradona and wouldn’t guarantee anything. Part of me would have loved to see Ronaldo at Napoli.
