Napoli still considering Mavropanos as replacement for Kim

Napoli are still interested in making a move to sign former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart in an attempt to replace Kim Min-jae, who joined Bayern Munich earlier in the summer transfer window according to reports on Sunday afternoon.

Mavropanos has spent the last three seasons in the Bundesliga, originally signing for Nurnberg and then Stuttgart on loan from Arsenal, before officially joining the latter on a permanent deal last summer.

Standing at 6’4”, Mavropanos is handy in both penalty areas and has chipped in with six goals from 59 Bundesliga appearances over the last two seasons.

According to Calciomercato.com The Greek international is considered to be affordable by Napoli, especially in comparison to some of their other centre-back targets.

It is reported that Mavropanos is valued in the region of €20m by his current employers, less than half of what the Partenopei received from Kim’s transfer to Bayern.

Wolves’ Max Kilman and Lens’ Kevin Danso, who are both admired by Napoli according to previous reports, would cost considerably more and would be more challenging to lure them away from their current clubs.
