Napoli have opened talks with Hellas Verona for Nicolo Casale as they look to strengthen their defence this summer.

The Partenopei are already working on a deal for Brighton centre back Leo Ostigard and they’re also in talks with Fenerbahce for South Korean defender Kim Min-Jae, not wanting to be caught out should Kalidou Koulibaly be sold later in the window.

As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Napoli have started talks with Verona for Casale, who is valued at around €10m. Cristiano Giuntoli and Aurelio De Laurentiis’ intention is to try and lower the cost, but they’re facing serious competition from both Lazio and Monza.

The 24-year-old Casale, who is contracted to the Gialloblu until 2026, made 36 Serie A appearances in the season just gone, for a total of 2591 minutes. In that time, he provided two assists and showed his offensive qualities, playing a key role in the build-up play in Veneto.
