Napoli star Victor Osimhen was subbed off in the final minutes of the Partenopei’s Champions League clash against Liverpool due to a suspected muscle injury.
The Nigeria international hadn’t fully trained with the rest of the team on Monday and Tuesday due to a minor muscle injury, but joined the group for this morning’s session and started against the Reds in the opening game of Group A at the Stadio Maradona.
His match lasted barely 40 minutes as Luciano Spalletti was forced to sub him off due to a possible muscle injury. Osimhen was chasing the ball with Liverpool’s Joe Gomez but called for attention from Napoli doctors once Alisson collected the ball.
Osimhen threw away his protective mask and left the pitch keeping his head down, while Giovanni Simeone made his Champions League debut coming off the bench.
He even scored a few minutes later, sending Napoli up 3-0 at the break, while Osimhen had missed a penalty a few minutes earlier.
