Napoli star Victor Osimhen admitted he ‘doesn’t know what will happen’ amidst various transfer market rumours but has delayed making a decision until the summer.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker was again the star of the show in Campania after netting two goals in the Partenopei’s 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Osimhen has scored 23 goals across 28 appearances this season and is one of the driving forces behind Napoli’s incredible rise, leading the line as Luciano Spalletti’s side march to their first Scudetto in over three decades.

Speaking to Sport1, Osimhen first discussed his role as Napoli’s star in their charge to the league title.

“I am proud of what I am doing and what we are doing. I think I’m one of the strongest strikers in the world. I thank those who praise me and those who believed in me. But I can still grow in some aspects.”

He touched on childhood idols and what he’s learnt from them.

“Didier Drogba is my idol. I loved watching him as a child. The way he played and what he did as a youngster is incredible. I always wanted to be like him. I’m happy to do well in the Champions League where he also excelled.”

The 24-year-old was asked why he still wears a protective mask.

“I hurt my face two years ago. Everything is fine now. I feel safer wearing it.”

The Napoli star commented on his expectations for the Scudetto celebrations in the Campania capital.

“It will be crazy. The passion of the fans is indescribable, the Neapolitans have football in their blood. We want to give them the Scudetto.”

Finally, Osimhen was asked about his future amidst the various transfer market rumours.

“I don’t know what will happen, but I’m on the right path. At the end of the season, I will sit down with my agents and we will discuss things. And then I’ll be in negotiations with Napoli, to whom I‘m grateful. Together we’ll find a solution.”
