Napoli fans were left gravely concerned after Victor Osimhen anxiously came off the pitch in the 2-0 win over Sassuolo, but the Nigerian striker shared some good news after the match.
The 24-year-old forward came off at the Mapei Stadium in the 84th minute of the Partenopei’s win over the Neroverdi and looked concerned as he spoke to the Napoli staff, pointing to his thigh and grimacing a little.
Anxiety immediately began to bubble up amongst supporters, worried that they could lose their star striker to injury ahead of a crucial Champions League tie with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Osimhen took to Twitter to calm the supporters, replying to one fan that his injury was nothing serious, saying: “Nothing like that my brother, I’m ok.”
Many fans also expressed frustration with coach Luciano Spalletti, confused as to why the 24-year-old wasn’t taken off earlier in the second half. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came off in the 78th minute and even that was a little late for some supporters, who want to avoid any risks of injuries to their star duo.
Great news. Spalletti soon could play primavera team. 🙂
