Following their Supercoppa Italiana defeat, Napoli are now reportedly focusing their efforts on closing out a deal for Udinese defender Nehuen Perez.

The Partenopei have been one of the most active Serie A clubs in the January transfer window, picking up winger Cyril Ngonge, full back Pasquale Mazzocchi and forward Hamed Junior Traore. Aurelio De Laurentiis still wants to sign two more reinforcements before the end of the month.

Napoli are looking to pick up a new midfielder, with Nottingham Forest’s Orel Mangala their primary target, and they’re also looking to add a new defender to Walter Mazzarri’s squad, wanting to turn results around in the second half of the season.

As reported by TMW, Napoli are intensifying their talks with Udinese as they try to agree a deal for Perez, their top option to bolster the defence. Contact began over a month ago and is now accelerating after the club’s Supercoppa Italiana loss to Inter.

The Friulian side have put a €20m price tag on the 23-year-old Argentinian centre back but the Partenopei are not keen to raise their €15m offer. The two clubs are working to reach a deal in the coming days.

Napoli’s alternative to Perez is Rennes defender Arthur Theate, but for now they’re focusing their efforts on the Udinese man.
