Napoli have released a statement denying suggestions that their continued Press silence is down a superstitious belief that it has improved the club's fortunes.

The Partenopei have been in a media blackout for almost a month, during which time they’ve surged to within two points of Roma and into the Europa League semi-finals.

The club today responded to newspapers’ suggestions that the continued silence is based on superstition that it brings good luck.

“On the contrary to some of the imaginative hypotheses being made, there aren’t any ‘superstitious’ motives to this decision taken by the club,” the statement reads.

“Napoli is a club on the rise and takes decisions it deems best for the good of its business.

“If a company decides that external communication in the form of interviews is not appropriate at a given moment for the objectives it has set, then it doesn’t grant interviews. This is done without fear of upsetting our fans.”

Napoli are currently on a three-match winning streak in Serie A and their 4-2 win against Sampdoria on Sunday brought the club within three points of Lazio in second place.
