Difficulties in talks for Christoph Kramer apparently have Napoli rerouting interest towards Atletico Madrid’s Mario Suarez.

The Vesuviani are in the market this summer to improve their squad’s options in midfield and were seen in recent days as in continued negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for Kramer.

Whilst there was talk of a €12m deal in the pipeline and that this was followed by the player’s own admittance that talks were on, the German club appear to have blocked the deal, as indicated by sporting director Rudi Voller’s words released yesterday.

On from this situation, the Gazzetta dello Sport are running the line that Napoli’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon has switched attention back to early summer target Mario Suarez.

The daily publication say that it is ‘very likely’ that Bigon will contact Atleti officials in the coming hours to probe chances of buying the 27-year-old.

It is also suggested that Valon Behrami may be included as part of any move, as he is apparently also a player that Los Colchoneros’ Diego Simeone is interested in.
