Napoli have presented Chelsea with their latest offer for striker Romelu Lukaku, this time offering to sign the player permanently rather than on loan with an option to buy.
Napoli send Chelsea updated Lukaku offer
Napoli are now willing to pay Chelsea a fee of €30m plus bonuses, or replacing the add-ons with a percentage of his sell-on fees, according to recent updates from Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport Italia.
That is somewhat of a breakthrough for Napoli, who had previously been reluctant to go over the €30m mark for Lukaku.
Chelsea’s original asking price was around €42m, but reports elsewhere suggest they are prepared to accept an offer slightly below that mark. Still, the two clubs were not able to shake hands on an agreement after their meeting earlier in the week.
Friday’s meeting between Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna and representatives from Chelsea may have been slightly more productive, as it is the first time this summer that Napoli have shown a willingness to spend upwards of €30m on a new striker.
Napoli are now waiting to hear back with Chelsea’s response.
