“At this moment the club is working on getting these three names: Saponara, Darmian and Vrsaljko,” agent Alessandro Pellegrini told SoccerWeb24.com.
Their interest in Empoli creative midfielder Saponara and Torino wing-back Darmian was well known, though Sassuolo’s Croatian right-back Vrsaljko is a new addition.
The agent was asked whether it was better for Napoli to force Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens into Sarri’s tactics or sell them to raise funds?
“I don’t think there is a specific Sarri tactic. He is a Coach like any other, who works based on the characteristics of his players. At the end of the day he’ll decide whether to go 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2.
“Clearly having someone like Saponara is an extra advantage, as he brings versatility even during the game. The fundamental thing will be to analyse the squad and from there decide the system.
“During the summer Sarri has been watching the games and analysing the characteristics of the players. He’s always had a very good rapport with his players, talking to them regularly. It will certainly be a different approach to the one Napoli are accustomed to.”
