Napoli have reportedly set their sights on a summer swoop for Leon Goretzka of Bayern Munich, who had already been linked with Juventus.
The 29-year-old has been a mainstay of the Bundesliga giants since arriving from Schalke 04 in 2018, but his role at the club is increasingly expected to be peripheral.
He is believed to be taking this into account and ready to try a new experience elsewhere.
Goretzka eager for new experience
According to Tuttomercatoweb, SZ and Bild, Goretzka has informed Antonio Conte that he would be open to joining Napoli this season.
There is also competition from Atletico Madrid for the German, who has 57 senior caps for his country and 14 goals.
A big problem might be represented by his salary, which is in the region of €9m per season at Bayern Munich.
The central midfielder has 270 Bundesliga appearances under his belt and 51 in the Champions League.
His contract runs to June 2026, but he could be allowed to leave for a minimal fee.
