Michel Bastos’ agent has indicated that Roma lead the way in talks to sign the player, whilst Napoli also remain interested.

The Brazilian winger was previously linked with a switch to Serie A during his time in Ligue 1, before ending a loan move at Schalke unsuccessfully and opting in the summer to sign for UAE outfit Al Ain.

However, just six months into that move, the 30-year-old is eyeing the peninsula once more and his agent has indicated something is imminent.

“I have spoken with the directors at Napoli, but the deal is not closed,” began  Marta Fisher this week to calcionapoli24.it.

“The only negotiations at an advanced stage in Italy are with Roma, as Rudi Garcia was the Michel’s Coach at Lille. At this moment, the Giallorossi are the clear favourite.

“I have spoken with Napoli, as indeed with many teams around the world. The player wants to get away from the UAE, the assumption of a loan deal is possible.

“The only cases in Italy are with Roma and Napoli – Juventus are excluded.”

The Gazzetta dello Sport today suggest that negotiations between Napoli and Bastos are at an advanced stage and that he could be at the club by the weekend to undergo medical tests.
