Napoli resumed talks with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku following a shocking 3-0 loss to Hellas Verona on Sunday.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Napoli have resumed talks to sign Lukaku from Chelsea.

The Partenopei contacted the Blues again following a dreadful start to the season that saw Antonio Conte’s team lose 3-0 to Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi on Sunday.

Napoli have already offered €25m plus €5m add-ons, but their proposal is still far from Lukaku’s €43m release clause.

In recent hours, Chelsea reportedly told Napoli that Lukaku’s transfer fee could be reduced, although a €30m transfer package is still not enough to sign the Belgian forward.

Lukaku is keen to join Conte at Napoli and has already agreed to take a pay cut at the Stadio Maradona, where he would earn circa €6m per season.

At the same time, Chelsea remain keen on Napoli striker Osimhen, but according to the report, the Nigerian striker is not entirely convinced about a move to Stamford Bridge. The same feeling is shared by Enzo Maresca’s side, who are not wholly confident about Osimhen and are currently only open to discussing a loan deal with an option to buy.

As Fabrizio Romano reported last week, Chelsea see the two strikers as separate deals, but Osimhen is unwilling to leave the Stadio Maradona on a temporary transfer.
