West Ham United have made their first formal offer for Piotr Zielinski, claim Sportitalia, but are still a long way off the Napoli asking price.

According to transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, the Premier League side have proposed €25m plus add-ons for the Poland international.

However, there is a very large gap from the demand, which is a minimum of €35m plus performance-related bonuses to reach circa €40m.

That is more or less the same figure that West Ham have agreed with Sassuolo for centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca, as that deal has been done for €36m plus €6m in bonuses and a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.

Zielinski is 28 years old and already has 72 caps for Poland, in which he scored nine goals.

The midfielder is under contract with Napoli until June 2024, although there is an option to extend for another year.

Milan have also been linked with Zielinski as a possible alternative to Renato Sanches of LOSC.
