Napoli are prepared to renew Kalidou Koulibaly’s contract and they have a generous offer in mind for their soon-to-be captain.

The 30-year-old Senegalese defender’s contract expires with the Azzurri in 2023 and president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to keep ahold of the former Genk man, who will become the club’s new captain following the departure of Lorenzo Insigne at the end of this season.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Napoli are set to reduce Koulibaly’s wages a little in their new contract offer, which would tie him to the club until for the next three to four years, but he’ll still be the top earner in the squad.

Koulibaly currently earns €6m net per season but this will be dropped to €5m net, lasting until 2025 or 2026. The parties will meet soon for what could be the decisive meeting, with both sides happy to move forward together.

The Senegalese centre back has made 27 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2407 minutes. In that time, he’s scored two goals, provided two assists and helped the side keep 10 clean sheets.
