Piotr Zielinski will not be renewing his current contract with Napoli and instead has been linked with a switch to Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio

The Polish international’s deal with the Partenopei runs until the summer of 2024 although no contact has been made between the club and the player’s representatives over an extension.

Zielinski is valued at around €40m by Aurelio De Laurentiis and the Napoli hierarchy, so if they are to receive anywhere close to that sum, they will have to part ways this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

As per reports in Gazzetta dello Sport, Sarri is particularly interested in bringing Zielinski to Rome to replace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who is expected to depart Lazio in the summer.

Despite the current contract situation, the relationship between Zielinski and his current boss Luciano Spalletti remains solid and constructive.

The 28-year-old is however, among the Partenopei’s highest earners and his current wage packet was agreed before a change in policy to reduce the club wage bill last summer.

The situation between Napoli and Hirving Lozano is also similar, with the Mexican said to also be on relatively high wages with a contract expiring in 2024.

Both Zielinski and Lozano could be on the list of players set to depart from Naples after the impending Scudetto victory at the end of this year.
