Napoli are emerging as the strongest contenders with Tottenham Hotspur for Genoa defender Rade Dragusin in a €30m January bidding war.

The centre-back has long been considered a prize target for several different clubs, including Milan, Newcastle United, Atalanta and Roma.

However, Calciomercato.com argue that the €30m asking price set by Genoa is enough to put all those off, at least for a mid-season swoop.

The only remaining candidates who could even come close to that deal are Napoli and Tottenham.

While the Partenopei are not known as big spenders, they do have a few issues pushing them forward, including news that Natan will be out for over a month with a dislocated shoulder.

They also have a good rapport with Genoa and could include Alessandro Zanoli as part of a potential swap deal.

It would still likely be a loan with obligation to buy, whereas Tottenham have the budget to bid €30m outright.

Dragusin turns 22 in February and already has 12 senior caps for Romania.

He spent time in the Juventus youth academy and was sold to Genoa in the summer of 2023 for €5.5m plus bonuses.
