Antonio Conte’s Napoli are ready to send an improved offer to Brighton and Hove Albion for Billy Gilmour worth €12m plus bonuses, claim Sky Sport Italia.

The opening proposal was worth circa €9.5m and turned down quickly by the Premier League side last week.

Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio is confident that the new and increased bid will be set at €12m plus performance-related bonuses.

It remains to be seen if this will be enough to tempt Brighton into selling the 23-year-old Scotland international.

Napoli set sights on Gilmour

There is also another issue, as first Napoli must make room by releasing either Jens Cajuste or Gianluca Gaetano.

Of the two, Gaetano seems more likely to find a new club following his loan spell at Cagliari.

Gilmour only turned 23 in June and already has 30 senior caps for Scotland, participating in their EURO 2024 campaign.

A former Glasgow Rangers and Chelsea youth academy product, he also had a loan experience at Norwich before the €8.3m move to Brighton in September 2022.
