La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Stefano Pioli is the ‘chosen one’ for the Napoli job, so Aurelio De Laurentiis is ready to offer the Milan coach a two-year contract.

Milan boss Pioli is the leading candidate to take over at Napoli in 2024-25 and the Partenopei are ready to offer the Parma-born tactician a two-year deal with an option for a further campaign and a salary of €3m per season, according to Gazzetta.

Pioli currently earns €4.5m per season at the Stadio Meazza, but he is expected to negotiate a severance pay with Milan given that the Rossoneri seem willing to part company with him at the end of the season.

The pink paper claims that this is the most ‘complicated’ aspect of the deal given that Pioli hasn’t yet sat down with Milan directors and, therefore, Napoli haven’t yet made a formal offer.

Il Corriere dello Sport confirms Pioli is a candidate for the job at the Stadio Maradona, but the Rome-based paper claims Gian Piero Gasperini is De Laurentiis’ favourite candidate.

Nevertheless, Gasp won’t talk to any club before the end of the season and the same is true of Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano, who has just earned a place in the Conference League Final for the second year running.
