Napoli coach Francesco Calzona was without three of his key first-team players during Wednesday afternoon’s training session, as forward Matteo Politano and centre-back Juan Jesus missed out and instead joined Mathias Olivera in the treatment room.

Olivera was forced off during 4-2 win away at Monza with what appeared to be a muscular injury and it has since been confirmed that he will be sidelined for a number of weeks. He took part in an individual recovery session, with some light work on the grass.

However, according to Napoli’s official round-up after Wednesday’s training, also reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Politano and Juan Jesus were not able to take to the pitch.

They were both restricted to work in the gym on Wednesday, although the extent of their issues have not yet been confirmed.

Napoli will next be in action on Sunday, against Frosinone in Serie A, however it remains to be seen whether Politano and/or Juan Jesus will be available to Calzona before then.
