Giovanni Simeone has already proven himself to be a useful part of Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli squad and his future at the club is reportedly not in doubt.

The 27-year-old Argentinian forward joined the Partenopei from Hellas Verona last summer on a €3.5m loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy clause attached, set at €12m.

Simeone has been designated to be the backup centre forward in the squad, filling in for Victor Osimhen or Giovanni Raspadori when needed. He’s scored eight goals in 533 minutes of action across all competitions so far this season.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Simeone has impressed Napoli and the club plan to activate his €12m buy option in the summer, as the conditions to make it obligatory are unlikely to be fulfilled.

The first of these two conditions of qualification for the Champions League, essentially guaranteed at this stage, and the second was that he net 20 goals in Serie A. Considering that Simeone has only scored three times in the league for Napoli, this condition will likely not be met, but the club want to keep him regardless.
