Emerson Palmieri is destined to leave Chelsea in the summer and Inter and Napoli are the leading candidates to sign him.

According to several reports in Italy, the Chelsea full-back will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer and a return to Serie A is on the cards.

Inter have reportedly put the former Roma man on top of their transfer shortlist, but La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Napoli are challenging the Nerazzurri to sign the 26-year-old.

Faouzi Ghoulam is recovering from a knee injury and Mario Rui remains the only option at left-back, but new coach Luciano Spalletti has reportedly demanded a new player in that position.

The Tuscan tactician already coached Emerson at Roma and would be open to doing it again at the Stadio Maradona.

Emerson’s contract expires in June 2022 and Napoli don’t want to spend more than €5-6m to sign the Brazilian-born defender with an Italian passport.

Lille’s Reinildo Mandava, 27, has emerged as the No 1. alternative to Emerson and would cost Napoli circa €7m.
