Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis insists they’re “on the right path” under Maurizio Sarri.

The Coach took over from Rafa Benitez this summer, but results have been mixed, with a 5-0 win over Lazio being followed up by a 0-0 draw with Carpi in midweek and Juventus looming tomorrow.

“It’s the mother of all games, and we care about it a lot,” De Laurentiis explained, speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Just the fact that we haven’t conceded a goal in the last three games has made me realise we’re on the right path.

“It takes time, we’ve got several new players, and we didn’t sell our jewels, despite being offered many millions for them.

“What is often missing is the relationship between the fans and the media, which is almost endemic to this disease that says you must immediately do everything and more.

“For me, it’s important to be able to assess before acting. That’s why I’d say if we’re doing something wrong, I’d prefer the fans take it up with me and not the Coach.

“If you love the team, you must do so for better or for worse, but I’m not worried as it’s still early, the season doesn’t last 10 days.

“We know we have one of the best attacks in Europe, and a Coach who is a real professor. We want to give him time to figure out his class.

“I don’t think it’s class full of dunces, we’ll evaluate things, and see who deserves praise, and based on these evaluations we’ll work in the transfer market.

“We’re already working from this point of view. The important thing is to understand that maybe in January we’ll realise that someone who is not involved now has become crucial.”
