Napoli offered more money than Tottenham to Radu Dragusin but ‘could not fight’ Spurs as the ex-Genoa defender even snubbed Bayern Munich to move to North London, says Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The Partenopei owner held an explosive press conference on Wednesday, discussing his decisions since Luciano Spalletti’s exit which he sees as the main reason behind Napoli’s struggles this term.

ADL touched on many issues regarding the present and the future of the club.

He also confirmed that the defending Serie A champions made a concrete effort to sign Dragusin from Genoa during the January transfer window. Still, their lucrative offer did not tempt the Romania international.

“I had offered more money than Tottenham, but he preferred England despite the interest of Bayern Munich as well. Therefore we could not fight,” ADL said, as quoted by Tutto Napoli.

Dragusin moved to North London last month on a permanent transfer worth €31m including add-ons.

De Laurentiis also said he would sit down with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s entourage at the end of the season, to discuss a contract extension for the Georgian ace.
